The Future Demands Resilience: Zenith Energy’s Climate Strategy
Zenith Energy's Climate Strategy

Australia’s first National Climate Risk Assessment highlights a clear message: early action reduces long-term costs and protects what we value most.
At Zenith Energy, we view climate strategy as both a responsibility and an opportunity.
To align with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS), we have begun preparations to disclose climate-related risks, governance, strategy, and performance metrics in FY27. A climate scenario analysis is currently underway to evaluate our resilience under different climate futures and support strategic decision-making.
We’re assessing risks and opportunities across short, medium, and long-term horizons— insights that will directly inform our Climate Change Strategy and strengthen our governance and risk management processes.

One of the turbines has already been commissioned and is undergoing it is reliability run.
These turbines form part of the new 65 MW Hybrid Power Station that Zenith Energy is delivering for Lynas. The station combines gas, solar, wind and battery storage to provide reliable power while significantly reducing emissions.
When fully operational, Mt Weld will be able to run in engine-off mode during periods of high renewable generation — meaning the site can operate entirely on renewables for extended periods.
The installation of the turbines is a key step in moving towards that goal and in supporting Lynas Rare Earths’ decarbonisation pathway.

The Bellevue Gold Project has achieved net zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2) greenhouse gas emissions for the first half of 2025 making it the world’s first net zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2) gold mine.
Zenith Energy is proud to have partnered with Bellevue Gold to deliver the 90 MW hybrid renewable microgrid that made this milestone possible, integrating 27 MW solar, 24 MW wind, a 15 MW / 30 MWh battery energy storage system, and 24 MW thermal generation.
Last month, the site has achieved over three days running on 100% renewable energy, with gas and diesel generation switched off completely. The mine is forecast to average 80–90% renewable penetration over FY26, which is likely to be the highest of any off-grid mine in Australia.
A huge congratulations to everyone at Bellevue Gold, Zenith Energy and our project partners for making this possible.
This recognition has been for Zenith’s initiatives including our Reconciliation Action Plan, First Nations Engagement, and commitment to gender equity as a signatory of Equal by 30.
Through employment pathways, cultural awareness training, mentoring, networking groups, and community collaboration, Zenith continues to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion across the energy sector.
▪️ The winner of the category will be revealed at the UDIA WA 2025 Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on Saturday, 13 September 2025.

The launch of WA’s GreenTech Hub marked an important moment in Western Australia’s innovation journey, bringing together government, industry, academia and community voices to advance green entrepreneurship.
Zenith Energy was proud to participate in the event, with Dominic Da Cruz, Executive ESG & Stakeholder Engagement, who was one of three VIP speakers including the Hon. Stephen Dawson, Minister for Science and Innovation, and Professor Harlene Hayne, Vice Chancellor of Curtin University who spokeon the key role the GreenTech Hub will play in WA’s ability to meaningfully contribute to the Global Energy Transition.
For Zenith, the Hub provides an opportunity to engage directly in the innovation process, from validating the credibility of emerging technologies and their proponents, to helping shape funding pathways and supporting the policy settings needed for implementation. Our involvement will vary, from sitting on applicant assessment panels to supporting selected technologies as they progress towards commercial demonstration in one of our market leading power systems.
In the first year, Zenith’s goal is to identify a technology that can be commercially demonstrated in the Goldfields and then be replicated and scaled across our portfolio before 2035. Success will be measured not just by participation, but by tangible outcomes that accelerate decarbonisation and strengthen WA’s innovation ecosystem.
The launch also highlighted what lies ahead. The Long Game Challenge, the Hub’s first innovation challenge, will focus on scalable, long-duration 10+ hours and seasonal energy storage solutions with applications in both remote and grid-connected settings. For Zenith, this represents a pathway to bring innovation into operation and showcase how new technologies can integrate into real-world hybrid power systems.

Decarbonisation dominated discussions at Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum 2025 with mining leaders showcasing how renewable energy is providing cost effective power for mining operations right now.
Bellevue Gold is forecasting an 80–90% renewable energy fraction for FY26, the highest of any off-grid mine in Australia, from Zenith’s hybrid power system. Recently the mine operated engine-off for 84 continuous hours – powered entirely by 100% renewable energy. As announced on stage at Diggers & Dealers, Bellevue Gold has achieved net zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2) emissions for the first half of 2025.
Liontown Resources Limited Resources highlighted its Kathleen Valley Operation as a benchmark for ESG performance, supported by Zenith’s high-performance hybrid power system.
Minister for Resources Madeleine King MP cited both projects as proof that large-scale mining can operate reliably while cutting emissions.
These examples show that high renewable fraction hybrid power systems aren’t just “nice to have”, they’re essential for competitiveness, cost efficiency and environmental stewardship. With our project partners, Zenith Energy is delivering systems built for Australia’s toughest conditions, proving that low-emission solutions can be both practical and profitable.

Our Managing Director Hamish Moffat and Chairman Doug Walker had the honour of joining Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King and WA Mines Minister David Michael at the official opening of Liontown Resources Limited’s Kathleen Valley lithium operation.
In October last year, Zenith commissioned the 95MW hybrid power station that powers the site with approximately 80% renewable energy.
The system – one of the largest of its kind in Australia – integrates solar, battery energy storage, thermal generation, and the country’s largest off-grid wind farm, to support Liontown’s commitment to decarbonisation.
As Australia’s largest independent power producer, we are proud to support mining companies in achieving their sustainability targets and driving Australia’s broader energy transition, with innovative, reliable and renewable energy solutions that make a real difference.

The four wind turbines at the Bellevue Gold project have now been installed and commissioned, with reliability testing completed.
Standing 212 metres tall with a rotor diameter of 165 metres, these 6MW turbines represent another step forward in Australia’s mining energy transition.
In partnership with Bellevue Gold, Zenith Energy has developed an innovative 90MW hybrid power station that combines solar, wind, thermal generation, and battery storage. The system enables operation on 100% renewable energy when conditions allow – and we recently recorded a milestone 58 hours of ‘engines off’ operation powering Bellevue Gold’s mine, processing plant, offices, and village.
This energy solution supports Bellevue Gold’s ambition to become Australia’s first net zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions) gold producer.
A new milestone that reinforces our commitment to delivering high-performance, sustainable energy solutions with real impact.

At the Bellevue Gold Project, a fuel storage tank at our power station has become a canvas for a striking mural by local Aboriginal artists Regina Ashwin and Delvene Patch from the Tjiwarl community. Their artwork brings to life a Dreamtime story, of Partjarnja (pronounced “bar-jun-ja”).
This mural is more than art; it continues a commitment to reconciliation and cultural recognition and will be a daily reminder of the land’s deep cultural roots, and the respect owed to its Traditional Custodians.
We’re honoured to celebrate and support Tjiwarl heritage in partnership with our team and the local community.
