By 2035

Glide Path to Net Zero As a leading power producer in the mining and resources sector and urban microgrids, we are committed to eventual 100% renewable power generation, predominately via bulk solar and wind.

While the Federal Government has recently outlined its plan to reach zero emissions by 2050, Zenith has ear- marked 2035 as the year it hits Net Zero, confident the target presents the right balance of ambition and ability.

Zenith is taking responsibility for the ethical impact and sustainability of its power generation, enabling clients to take important steps forward in the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) space.

Journey to Net Zero:

Zenith Energy has a Net Zero 2035 target.  Our first interim milestone set for 2025 is a 20% reduction in Carbon Intensity from our 2020 financial year baseline.  The following graph shows our progress since FY20 and our forecast progress in the next few years based on the scheduled operation of projects including those currently in construction. We are chuffed to be on track to achieve and exceed our interim 2025 target and remain confident that despite being a stretch target, our portfolio can be net zero across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2035.

Health and Safety Safety is our number one priority. It is our fundamental belief that all of our people have the right to go home safe and well to their families every day.

Our aim is ZERO HARM. Our commitment to health and safety extends beyond the workplace and into the lives of our employees and their communities.

At work, our health and safety is governed by our certified Health and Safety management system (ISO 45001) and our management plans for our individual sites. We strive to continually improve policies and procedures with the aim of achieving a ZERO HARM work environment. We encourage our employees to adapt this approach to safety around their homes and leisure activities.

We recognise the importance of supporting our workforce to make good lifestyle choices, in addition to understanding and appropriately managing health hazards and risks at work and at home. We provide opportunities for people to take an active interest in their health and be proactive in improving their own wellbeing. Health checks, health awareness and information programs and support for community-based health activities and events are staples of our approach.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture, allowing employees to reach their full potential.

Zenith Energy is acutely aware that the development of a strong, positive and inclusive workplace is vital if we, and the broader mining and resources industry, are to continue to make improvements in diversity. Creating such a culture starts at the top, and when you get it right you are rewarded by attracting and retaining the right people, who embrace and embody the company’s values.

We have a number of measures in place to support a more diverse workplace, including the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan to provide culturally appropriate support and cross-cultural awareness, providing support to employees to assist in observing specific religious events even when in remote, on-site locations, and providing flexibility where possible to allow for workers various interests and responsibilities outside of work.

At Zenith we recognise we have a lot of work to do to improve gender equality in the business. However, we’re committed to addressing the structural and legacy hurdles to significantly improve diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organisation.  Our last Gender Pay Gap disclosure in FY23 to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency provides a clear opportunity for improvement.  We have initiated a cross functional working group with representatives from each employee band represented to set targets, plan, and implement improvement actions.
