The 7 MW solar farm at the Mt Weld Hybrid Power Station project is moving ahead strongly. It’s nearly complete, with only minor works and localised testing to be finalised. Zenith Energy’s commissioning team will be heading to site at the end of June to begin the final stage of integration.

This project is part of the 65 MW hybrid solution that Zenith Energy has designed, built, and will operate for Lynas Rare Earths Ltd, contributing significantly to their goal of reducing emissions intensity and advancing towards a cleaner energy supply.

The first of four Goldwind GW165/6.0MW turbines at the Bellevue Gold Project has been fully commissioned and is now generating renewable energy on site — a major step forward in the delivery of the site’s 90 MW hybrid power solution.


Developed by Zenith Energy for Bellevue Gold, this innovative off-grid system integrates wind, solar, thermal generation, and battery storage — enabling up to 80% renewable energy across the year and the ability to operate in ‘engine-off’ mode when conditions allow.


This milestone supports Bellevue Gold’s vision to become Australia’s first net zero (Scope 1 and 2) emission gold mine, powered by one of the country’s most advanced hybrid energy systems.

Wind turbine blades on the move – Mt Weld project milestone

Turbine blades for the Mt Weld Hybrid Power Station have arrived at the Port of Geraldton

The 6MW Goldwind turbine blades for the Mt Weld Hybrid Power Station have arrived at the Port of Geraldton and are now being transported to site.
Once installed, the 24MW wind farm will become a key component of the approx. 65MW hybrid power system developed by Zenith Energy for Lynas Rare Earths—combining wind, solar, gas, battery storage and synchronous condensers into a single integrated solution.
 
With engine-off capability and a ~70% renewable energy target, the system supports Lynas’ transition from diesel to a firmed renewable energy supply.
 
Another step forward in powering responsible mining.

The second of four wind turbines has now been assembled at the Bellevue Gold Project, bringing us one step closer to delivering one of Australia’s most advanced off-grid hybrid power stations.

With 24 MW of wind, 27 MW of solar, and a 15 MW / 33 MWh BESS, the system is designed to enable multiple day engine-off operation powered by 100% instantaneous renewable energy when conditions allow — supporting Bellevue’s goal to become the first net zero gold producer in Australia.

The shipment of wind turbine generator (WTG) components for Zenith Energy’s Mt Weld Hybrid Power Project has officially departed port.

The vessel is currently on route and scheduled to arrive in Geraldton, Western Australia, in the coming days. This logistics milestone marks a significant step forward in the delivery phase of the project and reflects continued progress in the deployment of low-emissions power infrastructure to Lynas Rare Earths Ltd’ Mt Weld operations.

Lynas’ Mt Weld expansion project forms part of Zenith Energy’s growing portfolio of hybrid renewable energy systems, supporting critical operations through reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

Alongside the successful commissioning of the gas generation plant, Zenith Energy is making rapid progress on the renewable energy infrastructure at Lynas Rare Earths Ltd’ Mt Weld operations.

✔️ Commissioning Complete – The 5 x 3.4MW gas gensets were fully commissioned and tested ahead of schedule, with the facility handed over on 1 March 2025.
✔️ Solar module installation set to begin in March.
✔️ BESS footings completed, with battery delivery expected in April.
✔️ Wind farm civil works progressing ahead of schedule.
✔️ Solar farm on track for completion in the first half of FY26.
✔️ Wind farm progressing tracking ahead of the 2H FY26 target.

With each milestone met ahead of schedule, Zenith is driving a reliable, lower-carbon future for Lynas —seamlessly integrating gas, solar, wind, and battery storage.

Zenith has partnered with Murdoch University on several industry projects. Building on this collaboration, we are excited to introduce the inaugural Zenith Energy Women in Engineering & Technology Scholarship. 

This scholarship is designed to support and encourage female students pursuing engineering and technology degrees who are passionate about contributing to the energy transition.  

It is open to 3rd and 4th-year female students and provides financial support of up to $5,000 per semester. Beyond financial assistance, the scholarship offers mentoring, internship opportunities, and the potential for employment with Zenith upon graduation.

Zenith Energy is successfully achieving ‘Engine Off’ operations daily at its Kathleen Valley Hybrid Power System for Liontown Resources, powering the entire mining operation continuously for long durations with 100% renewable energy.

We’re excited to report that to date, with the mine at full load, the integrated solar, wind, and battery energy storage solution has a recorded high mark of powering the entire operation continuously for 74 hours and ‘Engine-off’ durations are regularly occurring for multiple days – no thermal generation.

Zenith Energy has successfully commissioned the gas generation plant at Mt Weld, marking a major milestone in our partnership with Lynas Rare Earths Ltd.
* Powering Ahead – Since November 2024, we have been supplying power via diesel generation, and the transition to gas-fired power is now complete.
* Early Completion – The 5 x 3.4MW gensets were commissioned and tested ahead of schedule, with full handover on 1 March 2025.
*Seamless Execution – With the LNG supply facility ready ahead of time, performance testing wrapped up smoothly in mid-February.
With the gas plant fully operational, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd has now begun its transition to gas-fired power, further enhancing reliability and efficiency at Mt Weld.

This achievement underscores Zenith Energy’s expertise in delivering high-performance, hybrid power solutions—on time and ahead of expectations.
