Since 2015 Zenith has quietly worked to develop the concepts needed to reduce emissions, while Zenith Energy is pleased to announce that commissioning has commenced for the Diesel component of the Mt Weld Hybrid Power Project for Lynas Rare Earths Ltd. This marks an important step in the journey towards delivering a cutting-edge 65 MW hybrid power solution.
The project integrates:
5 MW of backup diesel generation (now commissioning),
17 MW high-efficiency gas-fired power plant (Q1 CY2025),
7 MW of solar power (Q3 CY2025),
24 MW wind farm (Q1 CY2026), and
12 MW/12 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (Q3 CY2025)
Once complete, the power station will enable up to 70% renewable energy, including the innovative ‘Engine Off’ capability for 100% renewable operation when conditions allow. This transition supports Lynas Rare Earths Ltd decarbonisation goals and commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
