Joshua has been with Zenith Energy for six years, and his professional journey is a reflection of the company’s strong commitment to internal growth and development. He began as an operator, but it was his time as a field service technician — travelling across WA and the Northern Territory to attend breakdowns and maintenance tasks — that built his deep, hands-on understanding of equipment and site operations. Today, he leads the mechanical maintenance team as Maintenance Coordinator, overseeing scheduling, coordination and technical support to ensure projects run efficiently and safely.

What initially drew Joshua to Zenith was the chance to work with cutting-edge technology in a challenging environment. What he found was much more: a company culture rooted in safety, innovation and genuine investment in its people. “I’ve been able to grow professionally and witness the company’s expanding role in the industry,” he says proudly.

Joshua’s day typically begins with a team check-in to review the day’s tasks. From there, he coordinates technicians on-site, arranges resources, and ensures that maintenance activities are carried out smoothly. Communication across departments and quick problem-solving are key aspects of his daily routine.

One of his proudest moments at Zenith was leading a major overhaul of a Wartsila engine at a remote site in the NT. Despite a tight timeline, effective planning and teamwork meant the job was completed with minimal disruption. “It was one of those moments where you really feel the impact of your work on operations.”

His transition from technician to coordinator didn’t happen overnight. Zenith supported him with training in management and scheduling — a move that not only strengthened his technical abilities but also helped him grow into a leadership role.

While he acknowledges the challenges of balancing work and personal life in remote environments, he values the steps Zenith takes to offer flexibility and mental health support. Looking ahead, Joshua is keen to take on more responsibility, particularly in large-scale maintenance projects, and contribute to the company’s growth as it continues evolving with the transition to renewables and sustainability.
